Distance Counseling, also referred to as Online counseling and
e Therapy is a convenient and effective way to do counseling! It refers to a counseling session that is done through email, video or telephone call. It is just like traditional face-to-face counseling in many ways, except it is more convenient. You can engage in it when you normally have time off, but don’t have the time to drive to a session (please wear a headset).
Distance counseling is also a great option for individuals suffering from significant anxiety or who are hearing disabled, celebrities, business travelers, and people with physical disabilities are all examples of client's who can benefit from having access to mental health services via the Internet.
For Telephone counseling and instant messaging, I use Skype for a higher level of security. A computer with a microphone, speaker, and Skype installed or a phone with the Skype application installed are required.
