The word mandala comes from the ancient Sanskrit language and means “circle” or “center.” A mandala is a design that is most often circular in form and can contain geometric and organic forms. Mandalas represent the connection between our inner spirit and outer reality. In the beginning of time, mandalas were used to promote relaxation, and to balance the body’s energies. Today, mandalas are often used by Art Therapists as a meditative relaxation exercise to support healing and self-awareness through activating the healing powers of the sacred circle.
